Hey guys! Lately I've been super tied down with work la. Meetings after meetings and late nights at the office is really draining the life out of me. But I promise I'll keep blogging whenever I can! :)

Last week I was rushing over from a meeting at Subang to attend a small food tasting session at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert @ 1 Utama. It's been so long since I've been invited to an event as a blogger. I definitely do not spend enough time writing, that's for sure.

So yea, I got invited by the lovely Adele to EAT! The thing I do best... Haha.

There were quite a few familiar faces there - Caroline, Adele, Samantha, Ophelia, Venice, Povy, Tziaaa, Melissa Th'ng, Mark Odea, Estelle and Michiyo. A few others too but didn't get their names leh.

So so so while waiting, we were served  thirst quenchers to and appetizers to stimulate out appetite. :D

Drink: Green Lime with Plum Juice

I thought the drink was a bit too sour for me, but then again, I don't like asam.. I guess it's just me because Sam, Caroline and Ophie loved it!

Appetizer: Duo of HK Siew Mai & HK Carrot Cake

Absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this!! I gotta say, I love dim sum and this was one of the juiciest Siu Mai I've ever tasted. Omnomnom :p

Appetizer: Crispy Salmon Skin with Pork Floss

Not a big fan of this dish, but I thought it wasn't too bad because there wasn't a fishy taste. :)

After a while of chit chatting with the girls, it was main course time! Yay!

Main Course: SK Signature Combination Noodle

It's not too bad! I really liked the dish and their signature noodles.

Main Course: Braised Pork Belly with Mui Choy Rice

By this time, I was a starting to get full. (So much food lehhh! How to not? Hahaha) Anyway, the pork was so so good as it just melted in my mouth! Yuuummm. Didn't finish the rice cause it was too filling.

Next, there were a few activities lined up for us! We had to play a few games with our groups. I was placed in Orange team. hehe.

Challenge Dish: Snowy Char Siew Bun

We first had to prepare our own Snowy Char Siew Bun, which is one of Sheng Kee's signature dishes. We had to put in the proper amount of char siew, as putting too much or too little will alter the shape of the bun. We event had to put the right amount of icing/cream on top to make sure it is nicely sweetened. The most important part, however, is the timing for the rising of the bun and also the baking. My team got it wrong and our bun was too burnt. T___T

This is how it's supposed to look like... HAHAHHA

Challenge Dish: Noodle Tasting

Oooh, ooh! This challenge required Caroline (my team member) to be blindfolded and I had to feed her different types of noodles. She then had to guess which of the noodles were Sheng Kee's famous signature noodles. Yup, got that right too. *smirk*

Hen sweet nehhhh

Challenge Dish: SK Mango Pamelo Sago

Next next, Melissa had to make their signature dessert, Mango Pamelo Sago! She did a great job as she managed to put in just the right amount of shaved ice, pamelo, sago, mango puree and the right type of mango. Great job, team Orange!

And of course, we were given samples of the challenge dishes to taste as well. Definitely going back for the Snowy Char Siew Bun!! omg yumzz.

Before heading off, we had dessert and took a group photo together.

Dessert:  Yuan Yang Paste

This dessert was a warm creamy paste (almond, if I'm not mistaken). But I didn't really like it because I dislike almond... But others found it quite good. So, if you love almond, I highly recommend you try this dessert at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert! :)
